What I love about Malta – Golden Bay

Posted on April 4, 2010

If you venture to Golden bay expecting a long deserted beach then you will be disappointed. If you on the other hand, visit for the scenic setting and the cheery vibe, then there is no better beach on the island, cradled as it is by a rugged coastline of fallen boulders and flat-topped headlands. While you’re there, hire a speedboat which will take you to explore the many caves hidden in the Northern cliffs and the surreal Blue Lagoon hugging the tiny island of Comino.
Back on Golden bay, grab a burger of unknown composition from either of the two wooden-clad eateries or for more of a dining experience, head over to the restaurant on the Radisson SAS Golden Sands resort beach terrace (www.goldensands.com.mt).

Tip: While barbequing at some of the major sandy beaches on the island is prohibited, it was, at the time of writing, still allowed here. Purchase a cheap disposable barbeque set from any major supermarket, get a selection of meat and cold beer and enjoy an evening under the stars and the cool evening breeze among fellow night owls.
